The Sea Chest
AUTHOR: Tony Buzzeo
ILLUSTRATOR: Mary GrandPre
From the Publisher:
A young girl listens as her great-aunt, a lighthouse keeper’s daughter, tells of her childhood living on a Maine island, and of the infant that washed ashore after a storm.
Leah’s Thoughts:
I wasn’t sure how this one would go over with my boys, but they were all in once the baby showed up in the chest. It led to a great conversation about adoption, sibling relationships, and how families can form in unexpected ways. It’s a bit longer and more serious, but definitely worth reading when you’re in the mood for a deeper story.
